Debt Management

Balancing Finances & Desires

Doug Hagedorn, author of Ease The Squeeze says, consider the debt acronym, before you use credit:
D = Is this a Desire or need?
E = What is the Eternal value?
B = Is it Budgeted?
T = Is the Timing right?

TIPS FOR MANAGING MONEY

1.  Develop a spending plan and set financial goals.  Make sure that you can "see" where the money is going.
2.  Avoid debt.  Leave home without your credit card.
3.  Pay your bills on time.
4.  Know your credit score.
5.  Save for the inevitable "rainy day".

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Be cautious about co-signing loans. Proverbs 22:26-27, TLB.
"Unless you have extra cash on hand, don't ‘co-sign’ a note. Why risk everything you own? They'll even take your bed!"

Pay your bills. Romans 13:7-8,
"Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law."

Owing money will impact your life Proverbs 22:7, NIV.
"and the borrower is servant to the lender."

God expects fairness in business dealings. Proverbs 16:11, TLB.
"The Lord demands fairness in every business deal. He established this principle."

Honesty and fairness are expected of those who wish to please God.          Isaiah 33:15, TLB.
"I will tell you who can live here: All who are honest and fair, who reject making profit by fraud, who hold back their hands from taking bribes, who refuse to listen to those who plot murder, who shut their eyes to all enticement to do wrong."
